A long-established store specializing in eel dishes, founded in the Edo period on the Naritasan approach.
The appearance of judging eel at the eaves of the store is impressive. You can dine in a Japanese-style calm atmosphere. (There is also a private room)
After ordering, it takes a while to split, white-baked, steamed and grilled, so it takes time to provide, but the secret sauce and fresh eel tag are the best.
Must try BBQ Eel. Tender, Smoky and fatty texture. Delicate to the taste. Que can be long. Get there before 10am. I arrived at 10:45 hours. Got a number and waited for 45 minutes. Anther 30 min wait for the Eel to arrive. Well worth the wait. The upstairs interior is traditional tatami mats with tables and chairs . Very Zen like feeling . Great food and pleasant staff.
Visited on sunday so I had to wait for 2 hours. But I'm really satisfied with this experience. Good service and nice plate. I chose grilled eel. Yummy!
Stumbled by this place. Saw the guys out front cooking eels so here we are enjoying delicious food with a beer! What a lovely place. So stop by and enjoy their delicious food if you are in the area.
Along the traditional arcade that leads to the famous Shinshoji temple. One of traditional and authentic place to eat roasted eel over rice. The line/waiting can be quite atrocious, due to all the tourists visiting.
Best Unagi-ya in Japan! Most of the staff is nice... one of the young guys was very rude though!
