At Suigo Sawara Ayame Park, which makes the best use of the water and greenery of Suigo Tsukuba National Monument, the famous Ayame is in full bloom.
Flower irises with stylish names such as "Fujibakama" and "Dainagon" bloom coolly in white, purple, and yellow. There are many kinds of flowers such as Edo, Ise, and Higo.
It was a raining and cloudy day when we visited to this park. Crews there are still working hard with enthusiasm to treat all visitors . A Beautiful garden that u can spend 1-2 hours to relax a bit
Impressive collection of irises (to be watched in June, gets crowded during the matsuri time). Water lilies, hydrangea, wisteria, etc on top, neatly organized paths, ponds, hills, bridges, boat rides. I had quite hard time to find the entrance (walking from Hitachitone river along the canal towards Yodaura Bay) --- signs on that looong fence around the garden would've been helpful.
The place is very nice for a walk especially during summer. It’s just next to Tonegawa so you get some cool breeze from the river. There are different types of lotus for those who love them. Entrance fee is ¥800 during the blood iris festival from the end of may to end of June. ¥600 from May to August excluding the blood iris festival time. ¥200 April and from September to November. You can also ride a small boat through the park and view the lovely flowers beside the waterways. There are some stilts for for children to try walk on them. Enough parking space even for people with disabilities, no parking fee.
4stars for effort and hard work of all volunteers to make this small park beautiful. It has cute playground for kids. For my personal taste this park lacks natural trees surrounding it as it is in middle of fields -therefore it feels little artificial.
A vast flower garden with canals and ponds
